Challenges will focus on mobility and connectivity in Macquarie Park, with a lens towards flexible working, the night-time economy, sustainable transport, community activities, last mile transport, asset-sharing, talent-sharing, and other areas to help reduce congestion.

Challenge questions will be shaped by employees, students and community members in-and-around Macquarie Park.

judging Criteria

Want to win a fabulous prize? Keep these criteria in mind.

Each submission will be scored in each round based on the following criteria with a minimum score of 0 and maximum score of 20 points, with the final score being the average of the judges’ scores:

  • Is the solution simple to use and can the team explain it clearly in three sentences or less?

Creativity (5 points)
  • How creative was the team in developing an innovative solution for the challenge?

Do I need a team to register?

You don’t need a team. All participants register as individuals through the registration page. On day one we will coordinate teams based on listed skillsets and areas of interest. At this time, you will have the opportunity to nominate individuals you would prefer to work with.

Do I need an idea?

You’re not required to bring an idea with you – that’s what the hackathon is for! Prior to the event we will brief you on any of the information you need to know via the dedicated Slack channel.

How much does it cost?

The event is free! We’re just asking for your time, enthusiasm and ideas.

What can I build?

You can build absolutely anything! As long as your team’s solution addresses the challenge statement, anything that you create to benefit mobility and connectivity in the Park is eligible.

What should I bring?

Please bring a laptop, power cord and any other technology you would like to use. We will have basic stationery available for you.

We’ll bring the food, drinks and snacks!

When will this be held?

The event runs over two days, from Thursday 2 Nov to Friday 3 Nov 2017, at Macquarie Incubator, 8, Hadenfeld Ave, Macquarie Park, NSW 2113

Who owns the intellectual property after the event?

The ideas you come up with during the hackathon belong to you and your team.

Who should participate?

Anyone can participate! We’re calling on entrepreneurs, professionals, students and researchers – everyone has a valuable part to play!.

The hackathon will attract participants from various organisations with different skills and backgrounds, and you’ll have a unique opportunity to work closely with them.

Watch as your ideas evolve throughout the event. There is also an opportunity for winning teams to work with the MPID incubator to commercialise the idea.

Will I be expected to work through the night?

No, we believe rest is important! The venue will be closed overnight however teams are welcome to continue working elsewhere if desired.
